The RN-131-PICTAIL and RN-171-PICTAIL evaluation boards plug into the PICtail modular connector on the PIC18 Explorer and work seamlessly with the Microchip Technology PIC18 Explorer Development Board. Letting you introduce wireless functionality to your PIC18-based microcontroller designs,
these advanced boards contain firmware to make integration simple and dramatically reduce your application development. The hardware only needs four connections (PWR, TX, RX, and GND) to build a wireless data
connection in the simplest configuration. The microcontroller communicates with the boards using the UART and SPI interfaces, plus it can drive LEDs,
wake and reset the boards. The evaluation boards themselves are controlled and updated via simple ASCII commands. Once set up, they can scan to find an access point, associate, authenticate, and connect over any Wi-Fi network.
