Take speed & performance to a whole new level with the Pi 4 8GB, but in the same Raspberry Pi form factor you know and love. You can even design the board straight into end products as both the dual-band wireless LAN and Bluetooth have modular compliance certification reducing time to market and costs.
The Raspberry Pi 8GB incorporates a new and improved quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 CPU to rival desktop computers. For the first time, the Pi 4 is available in a choice of memory sizes, and the Raspberry Pi with 8GB RAM sits as the largest member of the fourth-generation family. These quicker processing times will see your 8GB Pi carry out complex tasks much more easily, making it more viable than ever as a desktop option or replacement
The Raspberry Pi 8GB RAM offers true Gigabit Ethernet and PoE capability (requires additional PoE HAT); 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11b/g/n/ac WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 with up to four times the range of the old specification. All together these make the 8GB RAM Raspberry Pi 4 Model B board an ideal fit for your next SBC-based IoT project.
The 8GB Pi 4 boasts four USB ports – two USB 2.0 ports and two upgraded USB 3.0 ports. Replacing the Micro USB connector of the Raspberry Pi 3, the Raspberry Pi 4 8GB RAM utilises a USB Type-C connector for power input, allowing users to consolidate their cable collection. The 8GB Pi 4 also welcomes back a headphone jack to complete an intelligent range of revised and upgraded port features.
Two micro-HDMI ports replace the single full-size HDMI connector on previous iterations, allowing the Raspberry Pi 4 8GB to support two 4k monitors. The Pi 4’s hardware decoding has also been improved to allow it to decode 4K video at 60fps using HEVC encoding.
Fans of the series needn’t worry about the Raspberry Pi 8GB Model B not working with any of their existing Pi projects, as the board’s 40-Pin GPIO header and software are fully backwards-compatible.
There is an abundance of learning materials, projects and accessories available for your Pi, but if you’re just getting started with the Raspberry Pi 4 8GB Model B, there are a few essentials you’ll need to begin your journey:

I had been looking to invest in a pi for a few years but was unsure. The pi4 8GB made me sure I had to finally get one. this little sbc is an absolute beast and outperforms my rundown laptop!. The aforementioned laptop was a nightmare to change OS and required multiple reboots whereas the pi simply needs to be shut down and a different sd card inserted. The back catalogue of OS and projects is slowly catching up to this model but is well worth the wait. So far I've had hours of fun with raspian, retropie, kali and many more. The only niggle was an sd card I started using was not running as well as it should. I believe this was due to it being a few years old and heavily written to. If you can get the high endurance dashcam cards as they won't be the fastest but will offer the best longevity.`
