This year our team at OKdo took part in one of the leading electronics fairs in the world – the Electronica 2022 in München between the 15-18th of November, where the most tech-savvy people gathered to discover the hottest and the most disruptive technology trends at the show. Let’s get to know the top 10 future technology trends that will change the world.

Electronica is one of the largest trade shows showcasing the latest electronics solutions from the world’s largest distributors and technology companies that had massive success and positive feedback this year. We at OKdo are proud to have been part of this major event in the tech world alongside over 2K other exhibitors and approximately 70K visitors from around 100 different countries.

What is trending in technology in 2022?

With intelligent technologies on the rise, it is undeniably exciting to observe how smart tech will transform industries and society in the future. So, here are the most innovative tech trends spotted at the show this year:

1. Electric vehicle technology

One of the trends spotted at Electronica was electric vehicle technology, including improved battery management, fast charging, radar & new high resolution, small form factor sensors and cloud-based solutions for software-defined EV and load balancing across grids and regional networks.

2. Smart Edge

Additionally, Smart Edge was spotted at the show, an advancement in edge technology that is starting to redefine how hardware can interact, anticipate and automate to make the connected world better.

3. Smart City & Smart Home

Smart City & Smart Home technology showcased at Electronica was focussed on low-power battery management and a broader range of low-power IoT devices.

4. Unification of IoT ecosystems

Another top trend spotted at Electronica this year is unification of IoT ecosystems with matter-enabled software.

5. Digital Signage

Equally important is Digital Signage, with the introduction of 8K and faster, advanced semiconductor technology, which is becoming increasingly in demand. At Electronica, we launched our next-gen SBC, the ROCK 5B, which can support up to 8Kp60 resolution, perfect for digital signage applications.

6. Embedded Security

Embedded systems help deliver a lot of modern technology we use daily in various IoT-connected applications in different industries. Therefore, with cyberattacks on the rise, Embedded Security across devices to the cloud and the wider software stack has become critical, hence presented widely at Electronica this year.

7. AI for Renewable energy

AI for renewable energy is another trend we noticed, with a focus on a broader strategy for energy production, management and optimisation. In addition to increasing energy efficiency on many levels, artificial intelligence supports the automation of energy systems and improves resource usage and stability. So, it is predicted that in the next three years, it will contribute significantly to the integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid. [ref]

8. Robotics

Robotics, especially advanced industrial robotics, is another trend that’s on the rise. It’s a trend that businesses shouldn’t miss, as they can benefit from intelligent robots to create highly flexible, self-adapting, automated manufacturing and distribution capacity for smart factories.

9. Industrial AI

Technology and platforms to help speed up and scale AI in industrial settings are in high demand, becoming omnipresent in many manufacturing operations and related applications in the coming years. Some typical industrial AI applications include predictive maintenance, predictive quality control, machine vision for fault detection, Ai-optimised inventory management, and AI-based production planning and optimisation. 10. Sustainable Technologies

To sum it all up, the latest tech trends align with one of the most trending tech topics – sustainability. At Electronica, the industry demonstrated its importance as a driving force behind sustainable technologies, presented as exhibits at the show and highly discussed at the conferences and forums held at the event.

The key highlights of OKdo at Electronica

Apart from getting the chance to discover the latest tech innovations, more importantly, we were excited to present the next-gen single-board computer, the ROCK 5B, the newest OKdo Nano C100, and tell you everything you need to know about our innovative solutions that can help you design the future. These are our top 3 highlights from the event:

1.

We launched the new range of ROCK SBCs – the ROCK 5 Model B. This is a powerful platform allowing customers to develop and scale quickly. It was incredible to launch the next generation ROCK 5.

2.

Also, powered by NVIDIA®, we released the OKdo Nano C100, an AI platform & a production-ready system that shares the form factor of the NVIDIA Jetson Nano.

3.

Moreover, we announced our partnership with LAIIER at Electronica, our new surface-to-cloud leak detection solution. Discover how LAIIER x OKdo can help you prevent water leak damage.

Our Team about Electronica 2022

Our team has been delighted to be part of the show and meet with loads of brilliant, like-minded people in person. Here’s what they say:

“After missing an Electronica show in 2020, it was great to see so many technology companies emerging from the pandemic with new technology and solutions with a focus on tech for good, renewable energy and sustainability. I was also fascinated to learn more about how machine learning at the edge is transforming what we do with data, for example, Smart Factories predicting when assets will fail and how neural networks will tell us more about our smart devices and perhaps even our society.

It was incredible to join the wider RS Group to tell the OKdo story and showcase our innovative solutions designed to solve customer problems, speed up the design cycle and time to market.”

– Richard Curtin, Chief Technology Officer | OKdo

“It’s been amazing to see the interest in the ROCK products and the potential opportunities with new and existing customers.”

– David Hill, Global Category Manager – Single Board Computers | OKdo

“Working with the OKdo team, getting to know people and speaking with customers after 4 years has been fantastic. Showing the products and learning about the customer applications has been a really useful experience, as well as seeing customers’ expressions when showing the products.”

– Raul Hernandez Fernandez, Applications Engineer | OKdo

“It’s been amazing to see the interest and the response to the OKdo ROCK. The positive feedback has been overwhelming whilst showing the product for the first time at a trade show.”

Josef Alkelow, Head of Sales – EMEA | OKdo

“It’s a great turnout for the Debix, and there’s been huge interest in the customisation options of the product. I’d like to thank the OKdo team for their support, it’s truly overwhelming, and I hope our partnership continues to grow.”
